Amendment Tries to Block 9/11 Attackers from Federal Courts
November 13, 2009
Last week, OSPC joined a coalition of human rights groups in calling on U.S. senators to vote against an amendment that would have prevented the Department of Justice from prosecuting the alleged perpetrators of the 9-11 attacks in regular federal courts. The amendment, introduced by Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) did not pass, which means that the Department of Justice continues to evaluate whether to try these detainees in regular federal courts or in military commissions.
