A coalition of concerned civil rights groups authored a letter to House Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi to urge the successful passage of the Fair Sentencing Act 2010.

If passed, this legislation would lessen the sentencing disparity between crack and powder cocaine offenses. Currently, the mandatory minimum sentence incurred for possession of 1 gram of crack cocaine is equal to the sentence for 100 grams of powder cocaine.
