OSPC continues to advocate for The Second Chance Act, H.R. 1704, and the recently introduced Senate Bill S. 1934. Both enjoy strong bi-partisan support and are expected to pass in early 2006.

OSPC continues to advocate for The Second Chance Act, H.R. 1704, which currently has 99 cosponsors, including a substantial number of both Republicans and Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee.
In the Senate, Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA), Senator Joseph Biden (D-DE) and Senator Sam Brownback (R-KS) are lead sponsors of the Second Chance Act , S.1934 . Other Senate sponsors include: Senator Talent (R-MO), Senator DeWine (R-OH), Senator Corzine (D-NJ), Senator Bingaman (D-NM), Senator Kyl (R-AZ), Senator Santorum (R-PA), Senator Obama (D-IL), Senator Schumer (D-NY), and Senator Akaka (D-HI).
Both bills enjoy strong bi-partisan support including from Judiciary Committee leadership. Passage is expected early in 2006.
