Diverse Coalition Supports Legislative Protections for “Cloud” Communications
OSPC joins companies, organizations, and individuals to support a legislative amendment to protect sensitive personal and proprietary “cloud” communications.

A broad group of companies, organizations, and individuals expressed support for an amendment to the Electronic Communications Privacy Act offered by Senator Patrick Leahy.  Senator Leahy’s amendment would protect sensitive personal and proprietary communications stored in “the cloud.”  The amendment requires the government obtain a warrant to compel a service provider to provide the content of e-mails, texts, or other private materials except in emergencies or under other existing exceptions.
