Global Human Rights & Foreign Aid

The Open Society Policy Center supports constructive U.S. engagement in the world in order to promote human rights, democracy, and cooperative solutions to global problems.

OSPC encourages Congress to appropriate sufficient U.S. foreign aid to combat global problems such as HIV/AIDS.

OSPC also supports the Leahy Law, which prohibits U.S. assistance to foreign security forces that are involved in gross human rights violations.

OSPC believes that the United States should ratify key human rights agreements like the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) and the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).  The organization also works to secure U.S. support for the International Criminal Court (ICC) and its investigations.
