Uzbek’s Dismal HR Should Keep It From Getting U.S. Aid
Secretary Clinton is urged to oppose providing aid to Uzbekistan due to their abysmal human rights record.

A broad coalition of organizations sent a letter of concern to Secretary of State Clinton regarding recent legislation which waives restrictions on police and military aid to Uzbekistan. The Uzbek government remains one of the most repressive in the world, curtailing freedom of expression and religion, and organizing forced child labor on a massive scale. The coalition requests Secretary Clinton to reinforce her past statements regarding human rights abuses in Uzbekistan and not invoke the waiver.
