The U.S. immigration system needs urgent reforms which honor the history of the United States as a nation that has welcomed many waves of immigrants.  The U.S. should adopt more effective, workable, and humane immigration policies. Simply increasing immigration enforcement in the absence of comprehensive reform raises serious concerns over fairness and due process.

The Open Society Policy Center supports comprehensive immigration reform and targeted changes in U.S. immigration laws, such as the DREAM Act.  OSPC engages policy makers on topics such as the enforcement of current laws, the criminalization of immigration, and state and local enforcement of federal immigration laws.  OSPC pays particular attention to due process rights and issues at the intersection of immigration policy and national security.
